U.S. House will move ahead with healthcare – Pelosi

January 20th, 2010

WASHINGTON, Jan 20 (Reuters) – U.S. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said on Wednesday Democrats will push ahead with a sweeping healthcare overhaul despite a Republican win in a special Senate election in Massachusetts.

Pelosi:

“We will move forward with those considerations in mind — but we will move forward,” Pelosi told the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

This was one of the comments under the Rueters story:

Any congressman or senator that votes for healthcare “reform” now will be sent packing in the next election. This is now crystal clear.

Healthcare is dead.

Watch for Dems to distance themselves from both healthcare and Obama starting now.

Anyone that was a seen as a leader on this is probably already beyond saving and if Obama doesn’t drop this immediately, he will become the next Jimmy Carter.

Comment by American Grand Jury:

Nancy is so full of BS.. she is basically saying to her fellow DemoCRAPS that if you don’t vote for this you are a traitor.. Well, Nancy, that is easy for you to say. If these folks vote for Obamacare they are dead meat come next election. Maybe your pansy group in San Francisco can keep you alive but the rest of the herd is going over the cliff if they continue to follow you.

Rush celebrates: This One’s for You, Mary Jo!

January 20th, 2010

Rush celebrates

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time in my life I am proud of Massachusetts, as I paraphrase Michelle (My Belle) Obama. For the first time in my life I am proud of Massachusetts. I seem to remember some hack saying you never want to waste a crisis. Some hack in the White House said that. I think his name was Rahm Emanuel. That’s exactly right. Well, they are in a crisis right now, and turnaround is fair play. So let me say, ladies and gentlemen, you never want to waste a crisis, especially when it’s the libs experiencing the crisis. So keep up the pressure. Now is the time to keep hammering away. This is not just one election. This is the third blowout involving two — or actually three — dark blue states. It is not about Coakley’s campaign or Corzine’s problems or Creigh Deeds being a lightweight. The common thread here is Obama. This one’s for you, Mary Jo. This one’s for you, Judge Bork.

Now, this guy in the LA Times: “The Lesson of Massachusetts? Anger. — The electorate is increasingly restive, and it’s not just about the Democrats.” See, my friends, this is the danger. LA Times, voters are mad at both parties. This is the danger, that we not allow the liberals and the Democrats to reinterpret what took place here. Conservatism won. Statism, liberalism lost. If you are a Republican and you run against government run health care; if you are a Republican and you run against massive spending and deficits and taxes; if you run for smaller government, you will win. You do not need to throw Ronald Reagan overboard. You do not need to cross the aisle. The independents came to us, big. Rasmussen’s numbers are incredible. Like 69, 70% of the independents went for Scott Brown, and that was an issue-oriented campaign that he ran. These are Reagan Democrats that crossed over. Conservatism is the answer. The era of Reagan is not over. We don’t dare use this as a launching pad for a third party. We have shown it’s totally unnecessary. Just get back to Reagan conservative roots.

The Boston Tea Party is alive and well again in Massachusetts

January 20th, 2010

newsletterGreetings everyone,

The Boston Tea Party is alive and well again in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. With the landslide election of a Republican to the US Senate [a position held for decades by the liberal Ted Kennedy] the “liberty bell” rang loud and clear across our land. Independents, Rebublicans and yes, even some Democrats came together in what is going to be the start of the greatest voting Revolution to hit our country in many years.

This election was not so much about Scott Brown, the man, as it was the issues. Scott Brown ran a masterful campaign because he appealed to voters across his State on the issues they most value: limited government, lower taxes, freedom, and national security. Scott Brown ran on the “Patriot” ticket and won. Praise the Lord!

The message is loud and clear to all of us now. We the people own this Country, not the politicians, George Soroses or Barack Obamas of the world. Money and power cannot buy everything and it most certainly cannot buy freedom.

Scott Brown is a man of the people and he deserves a lot of credit for making that known early on in his campaign. We all owe Senator Scott Brown a debt of gratitude for having the moral conviction to speak directly to the people and promise them that “we can do better.” Senator Brown now has an obligation to the people to deliver upon that promise. I for one believe he will give us a 110% in that effort.

The work is just beginning. The year of our “Tea Party” Revolution is now upon us. We must demand that every State in the Nation get onboard with our drive to take back America. The goal is simple, find candidates that think and act like Scott Brown. If we get rid of the liberals running for office, the rest will take care of itself. It can happen and it will happen as long as the conservatives in this county decide once and for all to “take no prisoners.” November, 2010 is not that far away. Let’s all get busy.

God Bless the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Senator Scott Brown, his family and all who worked so hard to get him elected.

The Scene at the White House Following Brown’s Historic Upset

January 19th, 2010

PajamasMedia
by Richard Pollock

I went to the White House on Tuesday night, the eve of the first anniversary of Barack Obama’s inauguration. On January 20, 2009, Pennsylvania Avenue was packed with a sea of adoring people.

On Tuesday night, following Scott Brown’s seismic victory in Massachusetts, I decided to check out the White House grounds. I drove through Rock Creek Park and got to the White House pretty quickly, in about twenty minutes.

The grounds were eerily silent. They seemed abandoned and dead. Having been in the White House, I know what lights are part of the residence and the East and West Wings. The windows were dark. On the night of one of the greatest political upsets in modern electoral history, someone had ordered all the White House staff to go home. The last one had apparently turned out the lights.

Next door, the ornate Executive Office Building, which holds senior presidential aides, also was dark and bleak. The only presence of life on Pennsylvania Avenue was that of two lone uniformed executive police officers. The silence was palpable. Lafayette Park, the scene of countless boisterous anti-Bush and anti-war demonstrations, was vacant.

This was the look and feel outside the White House grounds after a political thunderbolt rocked the Washington establishment and Obama’s presidency. Despite the numerous reports that Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel forces all staffers to burn the midnight oil night after night in pursuit of the president’s agenda, on Tuesday night it was devoid of people and energy.

At a street corner I noticed about a half a dozen young men in coats and ties, clearly presidential aides. Well, I guess not everyone had gotten the memo! The group gathered momentarily next to Blair House, the official guest house for visiting presidents and prime ministers. I caught up with them and asked if they were presidential aides. They turned and sort of grunted yes. They looked a little warily at me, but also expectantly, as if I might ask for an autograph. Or maybe inquire how it felt to work for a president.

Instead I asked them what they thought of the stunning result in the bluest state in the nation. They went from casual to frozen in a heartbeat. There was this single awkward moment. It was very dark. Brusquely, the tallest one repeated the protective mantra for those who work in nation’s capital: “We have nothing to say.” He turned away and briskly walked through Lafayette Park. He looked about 35-years-old. I think he was the group’s boss. The group trailed behind him.

The guy’s response sort of reminded me of a line from the comedy Hogan’s Heroes. Sgt. Schultz would repeat over and over again to his American POW’s: “I hear nothing, I see nothing, I know nothing!”

Now the group were just silhouettes.

Happy anniversary, guys.
